Welcome to the Quaker Virtual Choir Project, 2021.
Our aim is to record two songs using Zoom technology in order to create a video which can be streamed to Quaker events or viewed online at Friends’ convenience. The songs are George Fox, by Sidney Carter and Truth’s a Seed by Alec Davison and Tony Biggin.
You may have seen a number of videos of Virtual Choirs which are currently doing the rounds – here’s an example (perhaps this is a little more ambitious than our project…!)
Unfortunately, it is very difficult, technically, for singers to hear each other when singing on Zoom or other web-based initiatives – everybody’s broadband runs at a slightly different speed which means that synchronisation is virtually impossible.
What most virtual choirs do instead is to record individual voices and then a producer mixes them together afterwards. This is what we intend to do. We will then be able to disseminate a final video to gatherings, social media and on this website.
The 2 songs we shall be singing are George Fox by Sidney Carter and Truth’s A Seed by Alec Davison and Tony Biggin
Here’s a demo of the songs made with the same phone-based technology we will be asking you to use in the project
- George Fox
- Truth's a Seed
